The state Attorney General's office has issued a search warrant to locate the assailant, who was identified by witnesses and videos. Melanie managed to save her left eye despite the blows she received, although she requires surgeries for fractures in her nose and jaw.

During the assault, Melanie's friend, Danna, tried to stop Christian and ran to seek help. However, Christian attempted to take Melanie away from the security cameras and managed to escape before being arrested due to the lack of an order against him. In an interview with N+, Melanie recounted how she was attacked by Christian and how she lost consciousness from the blows received.

Mexican authorities explained that in cases of flagrant crime, a person can be arrested when committing a crime or immediately afterwards. Melanie is recovering at home after undergoing surgery on her left eye and has alerted about fake accounts soliciting donations in the name of her family and her friend Danna, asking not to fall for these scams.

The Attorney General of Tamaulipas has committed to not leaving Melanie’s case unpunished and issued a migration alert for Christian 'R'. The young nursing student has already been discharged after her surgery on her left eye and cheekbone, but she still needs two more operations on her jaw and nose due to the injuries suffered in the attack.

Melanie has shared her experience to raise awareness about gender-based violence. In the midst of the recovery process, the young woman hopes that justice will be served in her case and that the responsible party for the assault she suffered will be apprehended.
